A guide to figuring out what fabric your inflatable boat is made of.
Hypalon
Hypalon fabric is dull dark grey or black on the back. Look inside a valve if there is no other areas with rear side visible.
The edges of hypalon fabric tends to fray over time.
Try sanding a small inconspicuous area of fabric – Hypalon will fade and produce a dusty residue.
PVC
PVC fabric is always the same colour on both sides.
PVC will never fray.
Try sanding a small inconspicuous area of fabric – PVC will scratch but remain shiny.
